BleTeach/BaCuLit Information Day in North Rhine-Westphalia (Multiplier Event)
On January 15, our German team organised a large multiplier event in Düsseldorf, inviting 70 teachers from all disciplines. The event took place in th Jugendherberge Düsseldorf, from 10 to 16 o’ clock.
During this meeting, teachers were intoduced to BaCuLit, a professional development course for teachers. BaCuLit is an answer to the reading difficulties of adolescents which have been revealed by the PISA studies and which the educational policy of the EU Commission aims to reduce. BaCuLit defines the first overall European minimal standard as well as research-based principles of Professional Development (= PD) for in-service teacher training in content area literacy.
At the same time, teachers were informed about BleTeach and the connection between these two projects, which aim at optimising and embracing teachers’ CPD.
More specifically, teachers got an insight into the 6 BaCuLit modules, which have been modified to form a new Blended Learning course, which will be soon presented to the audience.
Our 6 modules:
Module 1: BaCuLit Basic Concepts in Lesson Planning
Module 2: Text structure and text diversity
Module 3: How to teach content area-related vocabulary and terminology
Module 4: Conveying cognitive and metacognitive strategies
Module 5: Writing strategies in content area lessons
Module 6: BaCuLit practice in Lesson Planning and our Blended Learning course
The participants gave us very fruitful feedback and pointed out important details for the production of our course.
